What should I do if I suspect my system is infected and may be sending out viruses?
If the system is your laptop, bring it to the Help Desk during regular business hours. The service choices we offer for infected laptops are: 1. Complete reload of the laptop; personal data is saved which includes Firefox bookmarks, IE bookmarks, email, and MY DOCS. 2. You may try to clean the system yourself using the Malware guide available on the IAIT web site or as a handout at the Help Desk. If this is a desktop in your office (RHIT faculty and staff), either submit a ticket to the Help Desk using the online ticketing system or call the Help Desk to report the problem. IAIT does not service students's personal desktops. Students with infected desktops should make sure they are running the latest McAfee virus scanner and DAT files. They may elect to reload the desktop or to use the malware guide by which to attempt to delete the malware.
