Why doesn't my battery charge last as long as it should?
If your battery has been exposed to temperature extremes then the charge will not last as long as you expect. Conservation settings and the way you use your machine will also affect how long the battery charge lasts. Obviously if you are playing a DVD the battery will lose charge more quickly than if the laptop is just setting there idle. Also if the power scheme is set to leave the screen and drives running for a long time, that will drain the battery. You can change your conservation settings through 'Power Options' in the Control Panel. Ultimately your battery may be going bad. If the machine is less than one year old, bring the machine to the Help Desk so that the battery may be tested and replaced if need be. If the machine is over a year old, the battery WILL NOT be replaced as it is no longer covered under warranty. You will have to purchase another one on your own.
