How can I get a full screen display when using an external monitor with my laptop?
If the screen appears to be shifted vertically or horizontally, or if the display looks larger or smaller than normal you will need to change your resolution in Windows. Open the Start menu, and click on Control Panel Be aware that you may have to adjust the monitor settings using your monitors control buttons. If you need any assistance performing this or any other steps, please call the Help Desk at x8989.
Double click on the Display icon
Click on the Settings tab
Move the slider in the Screen resolution box up or down to increase or decrease the resolution
Click Apply. Your screen will blank out and then change to the new settings. You will have 15 seconds to answer the dialogue box that asks you if the new resolution is ok. If something is wrong, or you do not like it, you can just wait for the computer to revert back to the old settings.
Exit out of any windows that are still open and logout then log in as yourself. Note: You MUST be logged in as localmgr or with your administrator account to make resolution, color or driver changes.
