What is a router/access point?
A router is very similar to a switch except that it includes additional features such as a DHCP server and NAT routing. This means that any device plugged into a router will use the router’s DHCP servers to obtain an IP. The features of a router can also be its major downfall because many of the features interfere with network applications such as DHCP. Most routers are capable of acting like a switch; however, this is usually difficult to configure.
