What is a hub?
A hub is a simple device which takes traffic over one interface and sends it out to all other interfaces. This means that if you plug an internet connection into one port of the hub the signal will simply be split up to all other ports on the hub. A hub will not do DHCP nor will it interfere with any network service; however, it will require that an external DHCP server is present (for instance Rose-Hulman’s DHCP server) to grant users IP addresses.
