On your own computer, to check whether the plug-in is active, run your mouse over the webCafé logo:

A pop-up tip will appear showing the eRoom software version number as well as the words "with plug-ins" (active) or "without plugin" (browser-only, plug-in inactive). If you have not installed the plug-in before, or if you want the latest version, follow the steps on our our plug-in download page. (It's OK to install the plug-in again on your own computer, even if you already have it.)
ACTIVATING THE PLUG-IN
- Click on the My eRooms link at upper left below the webCafé logo. If you had not been using webCafé, log on at to your My eRooms page.
- Next, click the my member info button on the My eRooms page. This will bring up your member record, which includes a "Use the eRoom plug-in software" checkbox. Check that checkbox and press OK.
- At this point you may be prompted with a message about installing an add-on. The eRoom plug-in is an add-on (ActiveX control, or for Firefox a "Netscape Plugin"). If prompted about whether you want to install the add-on or trust our site, choose "Run Add-On", "Yes" or "Install" in response. These prompts typically appear as a horizontal bar near the top of the web page; you may then get a pop-up confirmation message, to which it's safe to answer "Yes" or "OK".
-
Ignore any message to "Update the eRoom plug-in software" if you are sure you have already installed it; what you're looking for in the above step is not that "Update" message, but rather a prompt to give permission for an add-on to run.
- Finally, once you're back on the My eRooms page, you may be prompted with an "eRoom Warning" window:

Answer Yes to this.
The plug-in should now be active.
Notes:
- The plug-in software is not available for Linux or Mac OS; on 64-bit editions of Windows Vista, it can run only with the Internet Explorer x86 (32-bit) browser. On a Macintosh running Windows 2000 SP4, XP SP1 or Vista under Boot Camp, Fusion or Parallels, you could try installing the plug-in to your "virtualized" instance of Windows.
- The plug-in software is never active (and cannot be installed) in Wharton's public computing labs, group study rooms, webmail stations or classrooms.
