How do I turn nightly email notifications off or on?
Each nightly notification, or "eRoom Report," email sent by webCafé includes a notification settings link which can be used to turn off (stop receiving) notifications for that particular room. If you click this link, you may first be asked to log on to webCafé. (Alumni still receiving webCafé nightly emails may not be able to log on; feel free to contact us in that case.)
You can also change notification settings within a webCafé room by right-clicking on any item in the room and selecting Notification from the pop-up menu. (Or you can check off any item's checkbox and then click the notification toolbar button.)
All of these methods bring up a Notification options screen. Near the bottom of the various settings on the screen, you'll see a checkbox next to the line "Send a nightly summary of all changes in the eRoom". You can either:
Then press the OK button. (Doing this sets the notification settings for the room as a whole, regardless of which folder you're in.)
While changes to notification settings have to be made on a per-room basis, you can use this to your advantage. For example, consider turning off notifications for rooms in which you do not need daily updates of additions and changes, while remaining subscribed to notifications from rooms for your current courses which use webCafé and for other important non-course rooms.
