How can I make sure that details of people's votes in a Poll are not sent out in nightly email notifications?
On the Poll Display Settings screen (seen after you have entered all questions in a poll you are creating, or via "Change the display settings" when you edit an existing poll), the following choices must be made in order to prevent vote details from going out in the nightly notifications:
Note that room members who have coordinator status (including instructors in a course, as well as TAs or staff that are shown as coordinators) will still get the details of each vote in their notifications. The poll creator and coordinators will also see the details on-screen if the second "Just you and the coordinators of the eRoom" is selected. Since the notifications are personalized, this does not mean that vote details will be revealed to members who are participants (not coordinators).
When the poll voting has concluded, you may edit it and choose to "Close the voting." This will give you an opportunity to change the "Show the totals to:" after the poll if you want. Alternatively, instead of changing that, you can simply post the results separately in a Note, announcement or file.
