Can I make a link in a Discussion topic or Note if I don't have the plug-in?
The browser-only access mode of webCafé (without the optional plug-in) does not have a way to create hyperlinks in your entered text that point to other sites. However, Discussion topics and Notes can optionally have an Attachments area with links to other sites. In the Attachments area, you can create Link objects that point to the URLs you mention in your note or comment. Here's how you can create a link in a Note or topic:
- When creating the Note or topic, check the checkbox labeled "Include box for attachments". To add the attachments box to an existing Note or topic, click Edit in the top toolbar while viewing the note. (You'll only see the edit button for Notes and topics which you created or have the right to edit.)
- You'll now see an Attachments box at the bottom of the note or topic. Press the "create" button in the toolbar underneath the Attachments box.
- Choose to create a Link, then fill in the title (descriptive name) and address (URL, or web address beginning with http://) for the Link. Then press OK. The link will now appear as a clickable icon in the Attachments box.
Unfortunately, without the plug-in it is not possible to add links to follow-up comments or replies within a Discussion topic, Note or announcement.
